Legrand has an exciting opportunity for an Industrial Engineer -
Lean Manufacturing/Operation to join the Finelite Team in Union
City, CA.
Working in the Lean/Facilities department, The Industrial Engineer
plans workflow utilization of facilities, equipment, tools,
materials and personnel to continuously improve efficiency of
operations. The position requires strong proficiency in labor
standards, assembly methods, and factory equipment Return on
Investment (ROI) calculation as well as facilities/equipment layout
and work process control. As Finelite is committed to reducing
waste and 6S, the IE must have superior lean manufacturing and
continuous improvement skills. Reporting to the Director of Lean
Manufacturing and Facilities, the position supports continuous
improvement activities of high volume manufacturing lines while
maintaining control of processes, tools and work instruction
documentation supporting the production facility. This position
will be a liaison between Operations (Production, Quality,
Purchasing) and Engineering; a high degree of collaboration,
planning, communication, and production execution skills are
absolutely essential factors in the daily administration of this
position. The right candidate will be expected to work
independently and diligently, using technical judgment and overall
manufacturing knowledge to support operational initiatives.
What Will You Do?
The key elements of this role are:
- Manufacturing process efficiencies via labor, materials, tools,
equipment, and layout/workflow
- Packaging design
- Assure products are built to specification and
resolves/troubleshoots technical assembly issues
- Assist Manufacturing Engineering team w/ the New Product
Introduction (NPI) and Engineering Change Order (ECO) process
Required Skills
Qualifications:
- BS in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or
Industrial Technology is required. MS is preferred.
- 2+ years of broad technical experience in high volume
manufacturing. High mix, high output is preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of lean process flow as well as strong
understanding of product life cycle, including design,
manufacturing, quality, and end-of-life.
- Familiar with lean manufacturing techniques as well as lean six
sigma concepts.
- 1+ year experience in technical problem solving, analytics, and
quality reporting.
- 1 + year experience in production line training and work
instruction documentation.
- 1 + experience in CAD (e.g. SolidWorks).
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and
Visio.
- Work environment is a combination of office and manufacturing
facility. Light physical effort with occasional lifting up to 25
lbs.
