Job Description:

The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing quality control systems designed to ensure adherence to specifications, food safety, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement of products. This position is responsible for the Quality Assurance Department and supervises the Quality Assurance team to superior and consistent execution and will manage Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) assessments and reassessments. The QA manager will compose and edit HACCP plans and strategies for new products. Manage HACCP/SQF records and file maintenance and manage daily pre-operational, operational, and mid-shift inspections. The QA manager will assure compliance to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs). The QA manager will maintain current library for all GMPs, SOPs, and SSOPs and manage laboratory infrastructure including analytical methods and calibration programs. The QA manager will improve Product Quality utilizing key product / process attributes, sensory and quality metrics. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops, maintains and Manages facility's food safety, food defense systems, quality assurance programs and policies - Develops and maintains up to date quality procedures and programs. Documents the same in the form of a company QA manual. - Provides training and audit for QA programs including GMP, food safety, and sanitation. - Liaison for regulatory agencies and third party auditors. - Provides technical assistance to operations, Sales, Marketing and Vendors - Develops, maintains and reviews facility's micro testing/environmental testing program. - Develops, reviews and maintains company's HACCP program and pest control programs. - Chairs the HACCP team and assures that root cause analysis and corrective actions, as defined by the HACCP Team are completed - Provides training to personnel on HACCP principles and critical control points(CCP's) for company's HACCP Plan - Develops company crisis management plan and recall programs - Conducts and coordinates company's Annual Mock recall exercises - Trains and coaches operations teams on exemplary levels of food safety , basic Good Manufacturing practices (GMP's) and sanitation - Schedules, assigns and follows up on quality assurance staff's work results - Coordinates with operations staff to assist in development and implementation of new products, processes and product improvements including retention program(shelf life testing) - Evaluates suppliers prior to approval as Daylight Foods' vendors - Provides training for QA related programs to employees, suppliers and contractors associated with the company - Responds to customer and consumer issues, providing input for corrective and preventive actions - Provides direction, assistance and oversight to the sanitation department on a daily basis - Maintains revision control for QA documents (e.g.: specifications; processes, policy relating to QA, Manufacturing, Shipping/Receiving) - Audits shipping and receiving documents - Conducts Internal audits to improve facilities food safety and quality related programs -
  • Perform other duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ATTRIBUTES:
    Ability to manage the pressure associated with deadline-oriented atmosphere and customer service issues. Demonstrates skill in making independent decisions in support of company policies and procedures in a timely manner - Ability to solve practical and analytical problems. - EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
    Must have minimum of 5 years warehouse management experience. - - Must have a background in the produce industry. - - - Must be computer literate with a working knowledge of Windows, Word and Excel. - - Prefer bilingual in English/Spanish. - - Must be able to communicate effectively, i.e. staff meetings, employee reviews, reporting, etc. - - Bachelor degree in food science or agriculture is must. - Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
