Overview:
Looking for a position -that supports children and families while allowing a flexible schedule? Look no further than Seneca. -Seneca's STEP program is hiring a Per Diem Mental Health Counselor that will provide in-person crisis support for youth and intervene -as necessary to assist the youth in developing skills for growth and maintaining stabilization. As a Counselor, you will support group therapy sessions and individual youth needs in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team while providing a safe and nurturing environment for youth. -ABOUT STEPThe STEP (Skills, Transitions, Exploration and Progress) program is a partnership between Kaiser Permanente and Seneca, providing Partial Hospitalization services to youth ages 12-17. - Youth in the STEP program receive services provided by a Psychiatrist, Registered Nurse, Master's level Clinicians, and a Bachelors level Counselor. The goal of the STEP program is to provide intensive, short-term and stabilization services to enable our clients to step down to lower levels of outpatient mental health treatment. All groups are designed to teach youth the skills necessary to help them learn about their mental health, provide psychoeducation, and help them learn skills to feel better and be safe. Responsibilities:
Assist multi-disciplinary team in creating a welcoming environment for the youth.Engage youth in daily groups focused on supporting youth in developing coping skillsEngage the youth in therapeutic activities and projects as well as educational activities.Intervene with the clients' behavior as needed, providing stabilization services if/when needed.Maintain accurate documentation and paperwork including, but not limited to, mental health notes, incident reports, time sheets, and mileageProvide transportation for youth and families when necessaryMaintain professional behavior at all times, appropriately representing Seneca's mission and philosophyAll other duties as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications:
Required:Bachelor's degree in a social service related fieldOwn vehicle, California driver's license and auto insuranceTB test clearance, fingerprinting clearance, and any other state/federal licensing or certification requirementsMust show proof of Covid-19 vaccination and booster requiredPreferred:Experience working with youth in residential careBilingual Spanish skillsAbility to work as a team player and with a diverse population

Schedule:
Per DiemMon - Fri; 8AM - 4PMTraveling between other sites required

Benefits:
Starting at $22 per hour. Actual salary dependent on creditable experience above the minimum qualification.Non-benefit position.
