Job DetailsJob LocationKC Savory Creations Int'l. - Union CIty, CAPosition TypeFull TimeThe Primary function of the Quality Control technician is to conduct routine lab analysis during all phases of the production process. Attention to detail, ability to follow procedures, and accurately document results are essential to the job. Quality Control Technician hours are approximately for first shift 4:00am - 12:30pm or for second shift 12:30pm - 9:30pm. Overtime in this position is probable and schedule may change due to business needs. This is a temporary to permanent position.Role and ResponsibilitiesQualityFollow HACCP standards as defined by written procedures Attend QC related trainingParticipate in annual GMP trainingEnsure batch sheets are correctEnsure that all employees follow GMPs and ensure effectiveness of training during daily inspectionsDaily testing of water, plus sending water & other environmental samples for testing to an outside lab on a monthly basisInspection of registered glass & brittle plastic in the Processing Area on a bi-weekly basis (light protection monthly)Perform pre-operational inspectionVerify refrigerators are operating at correct temperature daily.Inspect waste bins daily & monitor accumulation of outside dumpster.Inspect storage method, process, & handling of allergens during Daily InspectionRelease hold ingredients after confirmed C of A is correctOrganize documents on a weekly basisVerify monitoring activities Provide input on recall / withdrawal situationsPerform second check of outgoing shipments leaving the facilityPrepare shelf life samples based on the matrix given by the QA ManagerIn process testing of product samples to ensure that they are within specifications (Quality or Samples)Maintain / organize retain samples for all products produced Send out a sample of every batch of retail & industrial finished products made to an outside lab for testingLabels:Prepare or verify labels for finished productsDouble check labels & packaging information Destroy all excess & out of date labelsEquipment:Check daily calibration of standard thermometers against certified equipmentCheck control panel thermometer against Standard Thermometer dailyVerify QC lab scale against a certified weight daily Calibrate standard thermometer daily against NIST certified thermometerCalibrate pH, salt, & brix meters daily Perform hourly inspections on packaging machinesAdditional responsibilities as requiredQualifications and Experience1- 2 years of Quality Control experience in food manufacturing preferred Basic Understanding of GMPs Some basic labeling experience preferred Strong written and communication skills at all levelsStrong computer skills, such as excel, word, and internet Knowledge of Food Processing equipmentRequired attributesHave strong interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated ability to work in a team environment Ability to complete tasks in a timely mannerDetail oriented and highly organizedSelf-starter with the ability to multi-task Ability to gather and analyze data to reach decisions Positive and motivational attitude leading to the overall success of the team Working Conditions And Physical EffortThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a Quality Control Technician encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.Physical Demands/EffortsWork requires occasional physical exertion including some lifting of objects weighing up to 35 poundsWilling and able to stand for long periods of timeWilling and able to sit occassionally Willing and able to walk to other areas of the plant oftenWilling and able to type on computer for extended amount of timeMental & Visual DemandsWork performed by this position requires a significant level of mental concentration to manage multiple complex tasks.Work requires continuous visual effort for extended periods of time.Work Environment and HazardsEmployee works in a manufacturing setting with frequent exposure to heat/cold, dust, or other factors that may require protective equiptment and still pose a hazard.This position has regular exposure to hazards that could result in significate injury and lengthy loss of time at work.AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACTKettle Cuisine complies with all aspects of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and state disability laws.
